Why Should the Elders Care About the Children's Ministry?

Last week I posted four reasons the Senior Pastor should care about the children's ministry . . . today I want to think about why a church's elders should care about the children's ministry. Obviously, the reasons I gave for the senior pastor are also reasons for the elders, but in addition, elders should care about the children's ministry for the following reasons -
  • most elders are parents and/or grandparents so the children matter to them
  • most elders have friends in the church who are parents/grandparents so again, the children matter to them
  • most elders realize if their church is going to grow they have to be a place where young families want to be - if the children's ministry is not what it should be, why would any families want to be part of the church?
These are just a few reasons . . . and just as the reasons for a senior pastor to care about children's ministry are also reasons for the elders to care, these reasons are also additional reasons for the senior pastor to care about the children's ministry as well.

Why do you think the elders in your church should care about your children's ministry?
