Focus for September . . . God is Great and He Does Great Things!

A couple months ago I wrote about what we focus on in children's ministry. I said, "When it comes to children's ministry there is often more than one thing to focus on . . . the vision for the ministry, selecting the resources to best help you accomplish your vision, sharing your vision with others, finding, training, supporting volunteers, communicating effectively with parents . . . the list could, and often does, go on and on. but what is your real focus? What is the one thing you really need to keep at the top of your list? I believe it is spiritual growth. We can not give to others what we do not have for ourselves. I provided twelve things to focus on from Psalm 86, so at the beginning of each of the coming twelve months, I'll post about the monthly focus and encourage us all to keep our focus on growing in our own walk with Jesus!"

In June I focused on depending on God and putting myself in His hands and in July I focused on crying to God for help because I know I can call on Him and I'm confident He will answer! In July we took a look at what it means to us to know there is no one like God! Today, and all month, let's think about the great things God does! There is no one but Him!

Look at Psalm 86:10 - "And the great things you do— God, you're the one, there's no one but you!God does great things - things only He can do! Do you stop to take notice of the great things God is doing? The great things He does in your life, your family and your ministry? Make this your prayer as you go through the month of September -

"Dear God on this day I want to thank You for the great things You do! I praise You because there is no one like You. No other can do the great things You do! As I go through this day please lift my heart in praise to You as You show me all the many ways, big and small, which showcase how great You are! Please remind me when I'm frustrated or when I worry You are great, You do great things and nothing compares to You! Thank You, Amen!"
