Bible Review - Streams in the Desert Bible - I'm Giving One Away!

Along with looking at recruiting all month I'm also reviewing Bibles for children . . . and for adults. If we are going to be genuinely effective at helping the children in our ministries come to know and walk with God, we have to be doing the same. This requires spending time in God's Word.

If you are like me, you likely have more than one Bible. With the internet we have God's Word easily available to us, but do we spend time reading, studying and applying God's Word to our lives? There are easy to understand many versions of Bibles available for us to use, such as the New International Version, Contemporary English Version, New American Version, the Holman Christian Standard, Common English Version, the Message and more. I like to be able to read a passage in several different versions as doing so often helps me get a clearer view of what the passage is saying.

Along with different versions there are different "types" of Bibles, such as study Bibles with notes, maps, cross-references and more helps in-text to help you as you read and study so you are able to better understand what each passage is saying.

There are also Bibles with in-text devotions which provide you with a year of devotions. One such devotional Bible is the NIV Streams in the Desert Bible, which I'm reviewing today.

Favorite Features -

  • Complete text of the NIV Bible - easy to understand
  • 365 daily readings from the book, Streams in the Desert by L.B. Cowman and edited by Jim Reimann
  • Includes a subject index
  • Provides pages to journal what you are learning
  • Lay-flat design
  • Raspberry Italian Duo-Tone cover with floral etching
If you are looking for a devotional Bible to help you read in a consistent and focused way, consider the Streams in the desert Bible from Zondervan. As they say, "At some point in our lives, we encounter hardships and trials and come up against the deep mysteries of the Christian faith. When we do, we become like thirsty travelers, wanting hope, comfort, and encouragement to burst forth like a sparkling, clear river. The hopeful daily readings in this Bible promise to revive and refresh you - as one of today's generation of faithful sojourners - by providing daily devotions in modern, easy-to-understand language which beautifully captures the timeless essence of the original Streams in the Desert book."

I'm very happy to say, not only did Zondervan send me one Streams in the Desert Bible to review, but it is available for me to give away! (USA only) If you'd like to be in the drawing for the NIV Streams in the Desert Bible, which will actually be held through my other blog, grandma's cookie jar,  please visit the blog by following this link and follow the directions you'll find there. Thank you for reading About the Children's Department and for sharing it with the people you know!
