Another Giveaway of Grandparenting Resources!

Yesterday I wrote about a special giveaway of grandparenting resources on my other blog, grandma's cookie jar. Today I want to let you know about one more special giveaway of grandparenting resources. These two books are "must-read" books for the grandparents at your church - and I'm giving them away on my other blog!

When it comes to people who are speaking up about the importance of grandparents focusing on passing on a heritage of faith, Tim and Darcy Kimmel and Elmer and Ruth Towns are people who many of us are already familiar with. They have each written a book about doing exactly this . . . and I'm very happy for the opportunity to give these two books away in this year's Special Christmas Giveaway - they would make wonderful gifts for grandparents you know and for the grandparents in your life!

Favorite Features -
  • Love how Extreme Grandparenting starts out saying; "If grandparents want to make a positive difference in their grandchildren's lives, they must have a plan." This is absolutely true.
  • Extreme Grandparenting walks grandparents through the four basic roles God has given them to carry out.
  • Love chapter 3 - "Sacred Cow-Tipping" as it looks at dangerous attitudes grandparents can embrace which will destroy the opportunity they have to connect with their grandchildren and pass on a heritage of faith.
  • I absolutely LOVE the focus of Extreme Grandparenting on being, "grace-based grandparents".
  • Chapters 5 and 6 on giving a blessing to our grandchildren is one all grandparents need to read and take to heart.
  • Chapter 8 challenges us to be torch bearers of the Gospel and of how to live a life which pleases God in a world which is not interested in doing so - two essential things for us to do.
  • Excellent chapter in Extreme Grandparenting on long-distance grandparenting.
  • Great Lessons and Grand Blessings Study Guide available - great resource for classes and small groups as they work through this book.
  • Great Lessons and Grand Blessings walks readers through Bible grandparents and grandchildren including, Jacob, Naomi, Asa, Lois, Caleb, Joash, Mephibosheth, Joel, Artaxerxes, Jonathan, Noah & Paul.
  • Great Lessons and Grand Blessings provides interesting background and history on Bible people; some of whom you may not be familiar with, and how they influenced their grandchildren or as grandchildren, made the choices they made.
  • Many chapters end with, "Lessons to Take Away" - excellent info.
Tyndale says; "Grandparents have a vital role in the lives of their grandchildren, not only as a mentor and loving family member, but as a spiritual rock during the hard times. Extreme Grandparenting helps readers understand how to make the most of the new role of grandparent and how to grow the next generation for greatness."

I found everything about Extreme Grandparenting to be encouraging and to help me better understand how as a grandparent I need to think about; "What do I want my life to count for? This role as grandparent offers me one of the most significant opportunities to leave a legacy which never dies." Really, is anything else more important?

Extreme Grandparenting is a book church leaders and grandparents will benefit from reading and is an excellent book for Grandparenting Ministries to use to help grandparents understand how to pass on a heritage of faith!

Church Growth says; "Congratulations! As a grandparent, you have once again experienced the miracle of new life in your family. Being a grandparent means you are older . . . wiser . . . and you can offer your grandchildren something invaluable: the gift of influencing them for Christ. In Great Lessons and Grand Blessings, Dr. Elmer and Ruth Towns will take you on a journey through the lives of both famous—and infamous—grandparents of the Bible. Witness how Jacob gave his testimony to his grandsons; how Naomi faltered as a parent, but was given a second chance with her grandchild; how Noah’s sins affected his offspring’s children; and even how Paul became a spiritual teacher to Timothy. By studying the lives of biblical grandparents, you will learn some of God’s greatest lessons and grandest blessings—even if you believe you have failed in the past. Such as: • How to help your grandchildren claim their spiritual inheritance • How to rescue a grandchild from ungodly influence • How to help your grandchildren avoid becoming prodigals and • How an unfailing devotion to teaching the Scriptures to a grandchild can influence the world. Your greatest gift to your grandchildren isn’t material—but spiritual. Be bold with your new calling. No matter what your past looks like, you have been given a second chance to motivate your grandchildren to greatness—for God."

I found Great Lessons and Grand Blessings to be extremely interesting - I loved learning the history of Bible grandparents and how they influenced their grandchildren. This book will help you better understand how to pass on a heritage of faith and is an excellent choice for classes, small groups and for grandparents to read on their own.

I'm very happy to be able to give away both of these books in a grandparenting book package (USA only)! If you live in the USA, are over the age of 18 and would like to be included in this giveaway, which will be on November 19, 2015, follow this link for all the specifics!
