When my children were teens, it was very important to my husband and I for them to serve on short-term mission trips. Our daughter went to serve with Native Americans in South Dakota, to Mexico, Costa Rica and the Bahamas. Our son went to serve with Native Americans in South Dakota, to Nepal, Thailand, England, France, Spain, Italy and the Island of Rhodes. Whether they go on to serve full-time in missions or not, giving young adults the opportunity to serve others, especially in a cross-cultural setting - is extremely valuable. It is my prayer my grandsons will go on mission trips when they are older.
My niece Leah is going on a mission trip this summer, and I will let her tell you all about it . . .
I am SO excited to announce I have a mission trip in the works; I am hoping to travel to the Middle East this June where I will aid and meet with refugees in Jordan! As a result of the immense growth in my faith, the compassion I have for these people, and a year of human rights and world issues classes in the honors college, I have felt such a pull to go out and help in whatever way I am able. Why not go head-first into the place where help, love, and compassion are so desperately needed? This opportunity came up a few months ago, and I am so excited to finally share this exciting news with you all after praying so hard about it. I have a spot on the trip with a team from my church here in Grand Rapids, Crossroads Bible Church, but I just need to do some fundraising to ensure I am able to meet the payment deadlines and be 100% funded to go. I feel this is where I am being led this summer, and I hope you will support me! Feel free to share this!
This link is to my fundraising page where you may donate to me directly. There is a far more detailed description of what I will be doing on the fundraising page. My trip cost recently increased a bit due to updated airline ticket costs, so I could use all the help I can get! I am also now running an etsy shop where I will be selling framed and non-framed prints of my original photos. More items coming soon. Hope you check it out! https://www.etsy.com/shop/LCBPhotographyCo?ref=hdr_shop_menuI'm very happy to see Leah step out to serve, this will change her life and give her the hands-on opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many others! Please keep her in your prayers and if you are able to help - the links you will need are above - and if you would be willing to share this with the people you know, it will be much appreciated!
