When we think about the goals we have for our children's ministries they would likely include things like seeing children put their trust in Jesus and then learn to know and walk with Him. Part of that "walking with Jesus" involves equipping our kids to know how to live their faith . . . how to "put feet to their faith". In Acts 1:8 Jesus told His disciples they would be His, "witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." When we provide opportunities for our kids to "put feet to their faith" then we are helping our kids understand how to be Jesus' witness in their communities and around the world.
There are many ways for our kids to "put feet to their faith" . . . they could collect non-perishable food items for a local food pantry, gather gently used coats for a winter coat drive or raise money to help provide clean water for children in another country. As children work on these projects they have the opportunity to see their faith is more than just "facts" they know, but rather it is real and is something they live in their everyday lives by serving others.
Each month we will feature a ministry and ideas you could involve your kids with to "put feet to their faith". If you know of a ministry you'd like to see us feature on "About the Children's Department" feel free to let me know about them!
