- First of all you will need to contact the care-giver of a child whose parents are in prison. This can be the most challenging part of the process, so Angel Tree encourages you to start reaching out to your Angel Tree families about the camping opportunity as soon as possible. If you participated with Angel Tree at Christmas, you will have already worked with these families. If you didn't work with Ange Tree at Christmas, contact Angel Tree to find a family in your area.
- When you registered for camping with Angel Tree, you received a package of Caregiver Post Cards. These are a simple and effective way for your church to reach out to the families and let them respond with their interest. You may also try connecting with the caregivers by phone, by having a Camping Information Open House at your church, or by making a personal visit to the family if appropriate.
Be sure to enlist the involvement of people in your church to serve as prayer partners for your Angel Tree Camping project. Ask prayer warriors to pray specifically for the child(ren) you wish to sponsor, their caregivers and for the children and families in your church as they work to raise the funds to send a child in need to camp this summer!
