Do You Know What The Kids May Be Learning At School?

Most of the children in our ministries go to public school and while there are schools where their board and teachers pay attention to what is taught and do a good job of watching to be sure "seeds of a pro-Communist world view and an anti-Capitalist, anti-American bias" are not in their schools, others clearly are pushing this agenda. Do you know what the schools teach where the kids in your ministry attend?

My sister is on the school board in her community in Wisconsin and she writes STRAIGHT4ward with Loretta Baughan. Loretta has valuable insight for us as parents, grandparents, people who teach children about God and as people who care about the next generation. In two of Loretta's most recent posts, Reaping What We Sow and the Puppeteers she walks us through how some people have been trying to influence children to embrace communism through the schools for the past 50 years. Loretta is right, " A god-less nation . . . is the true goal of Communism." so, what can we do to help our children learn to turn to God's Word for the truth? Consider the following from 2 Corinthians 3 . . .

  • "1 Are we once again bragging about ourselves? Do we need letters to you or from you to tell others about us? Some people do need letters that tell about them.2 But you are our letter, and you are in our hearts for everyone to read and understand. 3 You are like a letter written by Christ and delivered by us. But you are not written with pen and ink or on tablets made of stone. You are written in our hearts by the Spirit of the living God.- help the kids in your ministry understand what they believe will show in their lives for all to see and understand. When they choose to believe in Jesus and know and walk with God, the Spirit of the living God lives in them and will help them discern truth so they can live as God calls them to do!
  • "4 We are sure about all this. Christ makes us sure in the very presence of God.5 We don’t have the right to claim that we have done anything on our own. God gives us what it takes to do all that we do. 6 He makes us worthy to be the servants of his new agreement that comes from the Holy Spirit and not from a written Law. After all, the Law brings death, but the Spirit brings life."  - encourage the children in your ministry we can be sure of truth and God does give us what we need to do everything we need to do! We do not have to fear or be overwhelmed by the world around us because Jesus and the Holy Spirit give us life and confidence!
  • "12 This wonderful hope makes us feel like speaking freely.13  We are not like Moses. His face was shining, but he covered it to keep the people of Israel from seeing the brightness fade away. 14 The people were stubborn, and something still keeps them from seeing the truth when the Law is read. Only Christ can take away the covering that keeps them from seeing. 15 When the Law of Moses is read, they have their minds covered over16 t16 with a covering that is removed only for those who turn to the Lord.17 The Lord and the Spirit are one and the same, and the Lord’s Spirit sets us free. 18 So our faces are not covered. They show the bright glory of the Lord, as the Lord’s Spirit makes us more and more like our glorious Lord."  - rejoice with the children in your ministry because Jesus gives us hope and this brings us freedom! Help them know the world around us chooses to look for their own answers, but these "answers" only bring bondage. Freedom is found in the truth of God's Word and gives us hope!
We do not have to "surrender" to the godless teaching in the world around us. Be informed and share the truth of God's Word with the children and parents in your ministry!
