One Silent Night by FFH . . . I'm Giving One Away!

I had the opportunity to review the new Christmas release from the band FFH, One Silent Night. As they say, "it is a mix of original songs and Christmas classics. Founding member Jeromy Deibler comments, “We just feel blessed to be able to make this record and wanted to do the kind of Christmas music we like to listen to, something that’s not trendy but more of a classic style. For us Christmas is about remembering… slowing down to see what is important. And being reminded of the glorious impossible that was the birth of Christ. We hope this album reflects that desire and inspires others to do the same.

This cd has 10 songs on it . . .
  • Baby it's Cold Outside . . . love the harmonies and "fun" of the back and forth singing, although the message of this song is questionable.
  • Jingle Bell Rock . . . "Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock. Jingle bells swing and jingle bells sing" - Fun and cheerful this song will leave you smiling!
  • One Silent Night . . . "Quiet and still was the whole world that night The star and the land and sea. All were enjoying the quiet moonlight Spinning so effortlessly. And the wind blew tender and sweet Through the manger stall Over one new tiny heartbeat That would save us all . . .With no one to kneel and no one to see Heaven came down And Changed everything." - I LOVE this song! Beautiful lyrics, beautiful harmonies and beautiful message!
  • I'll be Home for Christmas . . . "I'll be home for Christmas. You can count on me . . . Christmas eve will find me, Where the love-light gleams, I'll be home for Christmas, If only in my dreams!"
  • The Birthday of the King . . . ". . . And for a moment in time All of creation joins to sing . . . Our humble hearts The gifts we bring To celebrate the birthday of Our King! The Love of God That covers all Once given in a manger stall . . . From Bethlehem to the cross A Savior born to die for us . . ." - I love the clear tone and sound of this song, and the message of celebrating the birthday of our King and remembering the reason He came . . . "A Savior born to die for us". Powerful! This is my favorite song on the album.
  • O Come, O Come Emmanuel . . . "Rejoice, rejoice! Emmanuel, Shall come to thee O Israel" - a very simple, yet lovely, version of this song.
  • Winter Wonderland . . . traditional winter song with an upbeat touch, interesting ending combined with a couple lines from the Little Drummer Boy
  • Glorious Impossible . . . "See the virgin is delivered in a cold and crowded stall Mirror of the Father's glory lies beside her in the straw. He is Mercy's incarnation marvel at this miracle For the virgin gently holds the Glorious Impossible. Love has come to walk on water turn the water into wine Touch the leper bless the children Love both human and Divine Praise the wisdom of the Father Who has spoken through His Son Speaking still he calls us to the Glorious Impossible! . . . Praise O Praise Him Praise the Glowing of this lavish grace so full Lift your souls now and receive the Glorious Impossible!" Okay, this is also my favorite song from the album! I love the message, the harmonies . . . I love everything about it! This would make an amazing choice to send to the people on your card list in place of a card this year!
  • O Little Town of Bethlehem . . . "Yet in thy dark streets shineth The Everlasting Light The hopes and fears Of all the years Are met in thee tonight . . . so God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven." - classic, old carol . . . I didn't really care for the sound track.
  • Heaven and Nature Sing . . . "The Word Was God And was with God Through Him all things have been made Became flesh and blood And walked among us. The Lord is come to us! Let every heart prepare Him room! And Heaven and Nature sing And Heaven and Nature sing And Heaven and Nature sing Glory to the King!" - I like this song with the lyrics from John 1 - it puts in a "nutshell" what Christmas is really all about!
This cd is worth getting just for the songs The Birthday of the King, Glorious Impossible and Heaven and Nature Sing! These three songs "hit the nail on the head" when it comes to what Christmas is really all about. When you listen to this with your family, be sure to talk with them about the messages in these three songs in particular! I find the cd somewhat confusing with so many songs about "fluff", but with these three songs it is a cd I can recommend!
