Put Feet to Their Faith . . . Help Unborn Babies!

Thirty-nine years ago a landmark decision was made which legalized abortion on demand in the USA. Since then countless babies have been killed and the lives of young women scarred as a result. We believe the Bible teaches life begins at conception - in Psalm 139:16-18 we read, "13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!" (NIV) In Job 3 we read where Job speaks of babies who die before birth as "infants" who never saw light. Throughout the Bible when it refers to a woman being pregnant, the baby is referred to as a child, son or even by name.
We need to give the children in our ministries a Biblical view of the value of life and one way we can do this is by involving them in projects to help provide resources for young women who might otherwise abort their babies. Across the country there are pregnancy resource centers and outreaches from local churches where they provide counseling, resources for medical care, maternity clothes and more for expecting mothers in need. They also provide diapers, formula, baby clothes and more resources for young mothers in need. You can "Put Feet to Their Faith" by involving your children in projects to collect diapers, bottles, and other items young mothers need. Consider the following ideas . . .
  • Have a "Baby Party" and invite all children and families in your ministry. Have each person bring one of their own baby photos - and ultra-sound photo if they have one. Play games where people have to guess who the photos are and give prizes to the winners! Involve everyone in making encouragement cards for young mothers and in putting together care packages - ask each family to bring diapers, bottles, and other baby supplies which you donate to a local crisis pregnancy center.
  • contact your local pregnancy resource center and ask them which supplies they most are in need of. Involve the children in your ministry in collecting these supplies which you donate to the center.
Whatever you decide to do, find a project you can involve the children in your ministry in and help them develop a heart for people in need and one which places a high value on life - all life!
