Let's Plan a Volunteer Recruitment Month! - "Glorious Day" Theme!

Most of the songs I select to build a theme for my recruiting month have a strong message about serving and while Glorious Day from Casting Crowns doesn't have this message, the message of the song is the reason we do what we do in Children's Ministry. It is the message of Jesus and this song, for this very reason, would make a wonderful song to build a theme for a month of recruiting!

Glorious Day - by Casting Crowns
Video hints –
  • verse one show video/photos of your church's children's Christmas program.
  • During the chorus show your volunteers working with the kids
  • for each of the following verses show video/photos of the children and families in your church and shots of your community.
Recruiting Plan – begin three weeks before the actual start of your recruiting month with the following “teasers”-
  •  Week one – “Living He loved me, dying He saved me . . .
  • Week two – “Buried He carried my sins far away!"
  • Week three/Week one of the recruiting month – “Rising He justified freely forever, one day He's coming Oh Glorious Day!
 Recruiting Month –
  • Week one - show the video and hand out badges for volunteers, staff and elders to wear saying, “Oh Glorious Day! This is why I do what I do!”
  •  Week two –  invite children to share what it means to them to learn Jesus lived to love them, died to save them, rose to justify them and is returning on the Glorious Day! Ask the Senior Pastor to speak briefly about the reason we do what we do, be sure everyone continues to wear their badges and have extras ready for people who volunteer.
  •  Week three –  Arrange for two volunteers to share their testimony as to why they do what they dobe sure everyone continues to wear their badges and have extras ready for people who volunteer.
  • Week four -  involve children in leading the congregation in several praise songs because "Rising He justified, freely forever, one day He's coming, oh Glorious Day!" Be sure everyone continues to wear their badges and have extras ready for people who volunteer.
Each week include flyers in the bulletin and up-date your sign as to how many volunteer positions remain to be filled.
