Operation Baby Rescue . . . Can You Really Make a Difference?

Each month on my blog I focus on a specific ministry and provide ideas of ways you can "Put Feet to Their Faith" and involve the children in your ministry in a project to help with this ministry. This month my ministry focus in Operation Baby Rescue through World Help. Their program is very simple . . . you just go to their site and set up your own fundraising page and then promote it with the children and families in your church as you work to raise money to save a baby in Guatemala.

But, can your really make a difference? Consider the following true accounts . . .

  • Marta, only a few months old, was found abandoned on a busy street in Zacapa, Guatemala. Lying on the sidewalk, she was naked, sunburned, and covered with insect bites. Immediately, she was taken to the Baby Rescue Center, where she is being nourished back to health. Now a very happy child, filled with giggles and smiles, Marta has been given a second chance at life.
  • At a young age, Consuelo became very ill. Her parents struggled to provide her with food, yet it wasn’t enough, and the lack of nutrients caused her body to begin to shut down. She was malnourished and became very sick. Her thin skin revealed her ribs, and she was fighting a fever. At the Baby Rescue Center, Consuelo received medication and nutritious food. She has begun the road to recovery and is doing well. Consuelo’s parents are very grateful to the Baby Rescue Center for saving their little girl.
  • Born into a poor family, Alejandra’s little body did not receive adequate nutrition for healthy growth. Her immune system was unable to fight off disease, bacteria, and other illnesses, so she became seriously sick. Alejandra’s young body was in immense pain and constant hunger. When she was found by our rescuers, she could barely move. Even though she cried, Alejandra could not produce any tears. Thankfully, Alejandra is now recovering in the Baby Rescue Center, where she is receiving the proper nutrients and the care her body needs. She is a happy child and no longer in pain. Soon, she will be fully recovered and receive a second chance at life.
So, how can you help put feet to their faith and involve the children in your ministry with Operation Baby Rescue? Consider the following . . .
Airplane milk jug craft
  • You could involve the kids in making milk jug toys and then have a sale,   then donate the money raised to Operation Baby Rescue.
  • Or, you could challenge families to set up their own fundraising page and then involve their family and friends in donating money for Operation Baby Rescue!
  • Or, you could have each Sunday school class set up their own fundraising page and then develop their own challenges to raise money for Operation Baby Rescue!
These are just a few ideas. What will you do to put feet to their faith and help Operation Baby Rescue?
