Curriculum Review - Non-Traditional PreTeen - Flyte from LifeWay!

Flyte is a Non-Traditional Sunday School curriculum from LifeWay which is designed for preteens specifically to be, "all theirs, one which speaks to what they're dealing with right now - not what's past or in their future." Allow me to share with you some information about Flyte!
Strengths -
  • Biblically Sound
  • Variety of options included for each lesson to engage preteens in thinking about the "point" of the Bible lesson
  • Scope is designed to cover the issues/topics preteens are dealing with in their everyday lives
  • Teacher Devotions
Would like to see -
  • More creativity in the teaching of the lesson - less reading/writing as some preteens struggle with this - and it makes it feel too much like "school"
  • "Put Feet to Their Faith" project to involve preteens in serving others each quarter
  • "Live It" activities for preteens to do specific things to live what they learned
  • Family Fliers
Flyte is a Non-Traditional Curriculum with a focus on "Faith. Life. Together" with the goal of being a curriculum preteens will be able to call their own. If you are looking for a curriculum with a focus on preteens and the issues facing them, this curriculum is well worth taking a look at to see if it may be a good "fit" for your ministry! LifeWay says, "Preteen experts-namely, preteens themselves-weighed in on the energy, movement, and excitement of Flyte during its development so key biblical concepts are not only grasped, but applied, to issues like eating disorders, puberty, sex, bullying, emotions, family relationships, and more. Flyte is a 'real-life' curriculum today's preteens identify with, in language that respects and protects this very unique age group. So if you're teaching preteens this year, take Flyte!
