Stop It!

Stop Sign 2 Clip ArtSo, yesterday I wrote about church politics and the damage it causes in churches and to people; today I want to write about how to identify church politics. Look at Colossians 3:8. 9, " But now you must stop doing such things. You must quit being angry, hateful, and evil. You must no longer say insulting or cruel things about others. And stop lying to each other. You have given up your old way of life with its habits."

God's Word tells us how to identify church politics . . . it shows up in the way we treat each other. Look at what Colossians says,
  • Quit being angry, hateful and evil . . . church politics are all about anger, hate and evil, so we have to begin with correctly identifying church politics for what it is - evil and then to commit to stop it wherever we find it.
  • You must no longer say insulting or cruel things about others . . .  this is very clear - no longer say bad things about others.
  • Stop lying to each other . . . church politics thrives and grows entrenched when there are lies and unkind things being said about others. Tell the truth. Identify when, where and who is involved with church politics and stop it!
If you see these things in your church and/or children's ministry, tell yourself the truth - it is church politics. We do not have to be unsure about what church politics looks like . . . we know. We can identify it and we must whenever it shows it's ugly head in our churches and children's ministries. We must have a zero tolerance for church politics and we must do what God tells us to do . . . stop it!
