Let It Bring Him Praise!

Serving in the Children's Ministry and Family Ministry is one of the most amazing  things you will ever be blessed to do . . . even with all the challenges related to this area of ministry! I have often said, if Jesus were to physically visit any of our churches on a Sunday morning, but He only had 30 minutes to be there, I'm totally convinced He would absolutely visit the children's ministry for the following reasons . . .
  • Adults are boring! No offense, but come on! Adults sit in chairs in their classes and listen to someone talk. Adults do not play games, participate in Bible dramas or make crafts. Children's ministry is absolutely much more fun than adult ministry! :^)
  • Most importantly, Jesus loves children! He never sent children away when He was on Earth. He made time for children. He rebuked adults for thinking His time was too valuable to "waste" on children.
Yes, serving in the Children's Ministry is one of the most amazing things you will ever be blessed to do! However; it is also one of the areas in the church where "church politics" most often raises it's ugly head. For some reason people seem to think they should be able to say what the children's ministry should look like - especially if they want it to follow a more traditional model.

Navigating church politics can be extremely difficult - and painful. It can also be very discouraging. Recently I listened to Matt Hammitt's album,  Every Falling Tear (You'll find my review of this album at this link) and his song, Let it Bring You Praise, really encouraged me, so I decided to share it with you today!

Lord, You created me, Perfectly shaping me, I know my heart, It is safe in Your arms
Lord, You know everything, So when I feel afraid  I put my faith in You
This life is Yours to give, So with each new day, Let every breath that I take

Let it bring You praise, Bring You praise, For I am fearfully and wonderfully made
When You choose to take, Let it bring You praise, Reminding the world that heaven awaits, Let it bring You praise

Before I even speak, You know my every need, All that I am, Is because You are
You know my heart,You know my heart

Let it bring You praise, Bring You praise, For I am fearfully and wonderfully made
When You choose to take, Let it bring You praise, Reminding the world that heaven awaits, Let it bring You praise

Before I was born, You numbered my days, The story is yours, I'm just a page
With every word, I want to proclaim, Let my life proclaim

Let it bring You praise, Bring You praise, For I am fearfully and wonderfully made
When You choose to take, Let it bring You praise, Reminding the world that heaven awaits, Let it bring You praise

In the good times in Children's Ministry - and there most certainly are many of them! - and in the trying and sad times in Children's Ministry, let it bring Him praise!
