One of the first things we are doing is having our children's pastor and his wife personally give each volunteer an apple with a tag which says, “'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.' Mathew 9:37, 38 Thank you for being the workers who are harvesting a most precious crop! Thank you for serving the children and families at our church!"
Each apple will be in a little bag with a tag attached using a bit of ribbon. We are still deciding which bag combo to use . . . I have a clear bag with raffia, a Red Delicious apple tied with raffia and red ribbon with white dots, a red paper bag with handles, green tissue paper a Gingergold apple, tied with ribbon which says "thank you" or a bag which I painted with chalkboard paint, wrote "thank you" on it, filled with green paper bits and a Gala apple then tied with the "thank you" and red dot ribbon. I'll let you know which bag is chosen!
So, what are you doing to start your ministry year by thanking your volunteers?
Love this idea...thanks!
