Thanksgiving Craft Idea - the Thankfulness Tree!

There are many things we want the children in our ministries to develop in their lives, but one of the most important is the commitment to having a thankful heart. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I thought it would be a great time to share a  craft I found on Pinterest for a Thankfulness Tree which you could have the children in your class make.

Follow this link and you'll find the idea behind the Thankfulness Tree. Then gather branches or ask children in your class to bring branches with them (if you do this, be sure to have some available for visitors, children who forget or children who didn't find any) and get ready to help them make their own Thankfulness Trees! 

You'll need to provide jars or some type of container to put the branches in, make a labels for the jar and tags for the trees. On the day when you make them allow children to take some time to write - or draw - things on the tags for which they are thankful and hang them on their trees! You could have children leave a pen and blank tags by their trees so their families can add what they are thankful for and to make it easier to add to the tree as they think about being thankful all the way to Thanksgiving Day - and beyond!

Encourage children and families to remove the tags on Thanksgiving and go over each one together, then spend time as a family being thankful for God's many blessings - big and small!
