Today I want to think about this a bit more and ask; do you think there is something you have said or done in your life which God really will not forgive you for? I ask this because it is so easy to think this, and if we do, it will limit our genuine effectiveness. If we are under the false belief there is something we have said or done which God will not forgive us for, we will not experience His full grace and the joy He has for us. We will not be able to fully trust God and speak with confidence to others about the love, grace and forgiveness God offers them. We will begin to think we have to "do" something to "earn" God's forgiveness.
But, happily, the truth is God is big enough and His love is great enough to forgive us fully and completely! Look at these verses from Psalm 103 . . .
"The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him"
God is abounding in love! He does not treat us as our sins deserve! His love for us is as great and high as the heavens are above the earth! He has removed our sins from us as far as the east is from the west! He loves us as an amazing father and He remembers we are not perfect! His love is never ending; from everlasting to everlasting! This is the truth!
If we secretly believe we have a sin for which God can not forgive us; stop believing this lie. Start believing the truth! When we believe the truth and live as people who do, it will change our ministry and fill our lives with joy! Spend time this week in your Bible and ask God to give you a new view of Him and how Big He really is! Ask God to help you know the truth; He is Bigger than we think and is able to do so much more than we can imagine - including He is able and willing to forgive us for all our sins!
