Extra Give-Away from Standard Publishing - Autographed Tales of the Defended Ones

Most of our VBS resources have a mission project for the children to work on during their week of VBS. This year, along with a great project with Back2Back Ministries, Standard is releasing the book, Tales of the Defended Ones by Beth Guckenburger. In this book Beth shares the true stories of orphans in Ethiopia, such as; "Ben and Joseph lose their mothers, but find a family looking just for them. Antonio is rescued from what seems like a hopeless situation. Caitlyn dares to trust that truth will set her free. Jorani is delivered from slavery into the arms of grace. Follow these real-life stories as they take you on a journey to foreign places and extreme struggles. Travel through their challenges and see the hand of the great Storyweaver – our Defender God shielding and defending the defenseless in the amazing ways only He can. These are the tales of the ones left wounded and weak-ones made whole and strong . . . "

Standard Publishing is making three autographed copies of
Tales of the Defended Ones for me to give away (USA only)! If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be included in the drawing for Tales of the Defended Ones - which will be on January 28, 2014, please comment below to let me know how you have been able to, "see the hand of the Great Storyweaver" in your own life; for me, God has shown His hand over and over . . . by leading me to California in the early '80s where I met my husband on a volcano, to churches where I was able to learn to serve in children's ministry to opportunities to help churches, to opportunities to write! Over and over again I can see God's hand in my life as I look back, so I know His hand is here now leading me forward!

In addition if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed About the Children's Department by email you will receive one entry for each of these which you have done. Plus, if you "share" this post, you'll receive another entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win Tales of the Defended Ones and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading About the Children's Department and for sharing it with the people you know!

  1. God has lead me from Africa to the USA, where I met my wife, and God really took a hold of me to go into Ministry to Children.

I follow on Google Friend, Like the Facebook Page, and also follow by email. I also shared this post.

  2. God has led me through all of my life. In recent years God brought me back to MN when my husband took at job at a Christian camp. After finally finding a home in the 5th or 6th town we looked in, I began looking for a job. When I couldn't find even temporary retail employment at Christmas, I applied for the children's ministry job at the church where I had been attending for only a few months. This is now where I work with a great group of volunteers and kids! I'm thankful for the Lord's leading!

  3. The Lord led my family to the church we are currently at and gave me a position as the Children's Ministry Assistant. In that position, He worked through others to give me the knowledge I needed to take over the Children's Ministry leadership when our Children's Pastor became ill over the summer. It is not what I would have chosen, but God's hand is in it. Without knowing that, I would be a serious train wreck trying to figure all of the things that have happened out. I trust Him because He has direction for our lives.
