Life . . . and Ministry for 2014 . . . My Focus Is . . .

Faithfulness. When I think about God and how He shows His amazing love and grace to me, I think of the word, Faithful. God is always, ALWAYS faithful. Always. People can, and sadly will, fail, but God NEVER fails. He is always faithful and knowing this gives me so much peach and joy!

I can have peace and joy when people fail, because I know in spite of how people fail, God is bigger than I think He is and He is able to do ever so much more than I can ever imagine! So, because I know He is faithful, I can have peace and joy; even when people fail me!

This frees me to face and live life with peace and joy!

It also frees me to face and serve in my ministry with peace and joy for the same reason; God is ALWAYS faithful! I do not have to be stressed when volunteers call in sick, or when I need more volunteers, or when faced with choices in ministry because God is bigger than I think He is and He is able to do ever so much more than I can ever imagine! He is faithful, so because of this, I can have peace and joy!

When I think of people who are faithful, I think of two people. The first was the Dean of Students when I attended Liberty University; Ed Dobson. He served as the Dean at Liberty and then went on to be the Senior Pastor at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, MI for 18 years. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2001 and given a short time to live. He is still living today and has written three books and released a series of short films which are some of the most challenging and encouraging resources for anyone going through a difficult time . . . or for anyone going through life. Ed is faithful! (You'll find the films at this link)

The second person I think of when I think of people who are faithful, is a sweet lady named Mary. She is one of the Kindergarten Sunday School teachers during the third hour at my church. Mary is elderly and has arthritis; every step she takes is one of pain, yet she is there every Sunday to teach the children in her soft, gentle way about how very much God loves them . . . and her every word and step shouts she loves them so very much, too! Mary is faithful!

I want to live my life and serve in ministry so when people think of Lynda Freeman, they say, "Lynda is faithful!" So, this year, in particular, my focus is on being faithful! What is your focus for this year?
