VBS 2014 - Living Inside Out - Orange

Today I'm giving you a "peek" at Living Inside Out from Orange as they do not have their full kit available yet for review. When it is, I'll give you a full review, but for now I'm happy to give you an idea of what Orange's VBS for 2014 looks like . . .

Setting – a contemporary setting - not real clear exactly what the setting is
Message – Children will, "learn about one of the stories Jesus told through video or live storytelling. We will focus on one main principle, or Bottom Line, each day. We’ll be exploring how Jesus taught a lot of principles by storytelling. By the end of the week, we want children to understand what it means to take in the principles of those stories and live them out in their lives."
Focus - Evangelism, Service, Application and Bible Content

    Strengths –
    • As I would expect, the lessons I saw looks like Living Inside Out has a strong focus, content and application
    • I love the Parent CUE cards – great resource to send home with kids each day
    • I LOVE the "Partnering with Parents" - tremendous idea to give parents ideas of things they can do at home before VBS begins to prepare their children for VBS!
    • I LOVE the Parenting Event with ideas of things to do with parents while their children are in the VBS program!
    • Strong focus on small groups
    • Strong evangelism focus and content to help children who know Jesus grow in their walk with Him
    • I love the Faith Skills center – excellent!
    • I LOVE the Service Project Station!
    • I am very happy to see Orange team up with Samaritan's Purse this year for a mission project!
    • Crafts are affordable and made from everyday items or from kits available through Oriental Trading
    • Excellent info to help churches engage children with special needs!
    Would like to see –
    • I will wait to comment here until I am able to see the full kit
Last year I said, "I'd like to see more information for the director . . . volunteer safety info, building/grounds safety, screening volunteers and more info on follow up" and this year, there is more complete director's info; better info on involving children with special needs and better info on safety - I'd still like to see more about screening volunteers." I'm very happy to say this year the director's info has all this!

If you are looking for a resource you can use with Christian children to help them grow in their walk with Jesus, Living Inside Out could be a great “fit” for you. It looks to me like Living Inside Out might have an evangelism focus, but since I have not been able to see all the lessons, if it doesn't, you’ll have to add it to the lessons – it would be easy enough to do. Orange says they want children to, “learn about living inside out! Jesus said, 'Everyone who hears my words and puts them into practice is like a wise man.' Jesus told many amazing stories and there’s so much we can learn from them. This summer, we’re going to discover the principles of those stories and then put them into practice in our everyday lives. It’s time we started living inside out!” Living Inside Out is all about options – and is worth taking a look at it to see if it will “fit” your ministry!
