Candle/Kregel has this to say about the Day by Day Bible; "This daily Bible is made up of 365 stories for five- to seven-year-olds. Each story has a Bible verse, scripture reference, and additional notes or questions in the colored panel down the side of the page, to encourage more detailed use. A warm, classic art style gives this Bible a traditional feel."
I like the Candle Day by Day Bible because it provides a very short "excerpt" of a Bible account - the perfect amount for a young child to read for themselves each day! This could be a great book to help young readers begin a personal discipline of reading God's Word each day! What could be a better thing for a child who begins to read?!!! I like how it asks simple questions to help children think as they read. The colorful illustrations add some fun - this is a book which would certainly make a wonderful Christmas gift for a young child you know and is one which you could definitely recommend to parents!
I'm very happy to say, not only did Kregel send me one Candle Day by Day Bible to review in exchange for my opinion, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only)! If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be included in the drawing for the Candle Day by Day Bible - which will be on October 31, 2014, please comment below to let me know your favorite Bible adventure - I like a lot of them, but I'm particularly amazed by the account of Jehoshaphat!

Hey Lynda! I'm a giant Jehoshaphat fan myself. . . .also love David's mighty men! Thanks for sharing your review on the Candle Day by Day Bible!
ReplyDeleteFavorite Bible adventure would be Jonathan, son of Saul. He wasn't just a friend and sidekick to David; he was a man of faith as well.

Peter waking on water! Our faith is strong when focused on Him alone!! Shared on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked to hear about Samson. Although it does not seem to be one of the more populated stories to teach. Paul is also a favorite. I am going to share. FB and on Google connect. Thank you for the chance.
