Book Review - The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special - I'm Giving One Away!

For years the Berenstain Bears have helped children think about and understand all sorts of things; being afraid, sharing, helping others, how God loves them and many more. I was just sent a new Berenstain Bears book which continues this tradition of helping children understand what could be difficult situations; this time how God made all of us special, including those who may grow and develop differently than we do.

The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special
Author/Illustrator - Mike Berenstain
Publisher - Zonderkidz
Ages - 4-8

Favorite Features -
  • Loved Berenstain Bear characters return for another story children will enjoy and identify with - and learn from as well!
  • Colorful illustrations will capture the attention of children.
  • Love the "Activities and Questions from Brother and Sister Bear" - excellent!
  • Solid message about how we all are different from each other and grow and develop differently, but we can know God made all of us special.
Zonderkidz says; "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8 In this newest title in the Berenstain Bears Living Lights collection, the Bruins join the Bear family for a cookout and bring their cousin Tommy along. It isn’t long before the cubs start up a game of baseball and Sister soon notices Tommy doesn’t play like the rest of the group. When Sister asks about Tommy, Mama takes the opportunity to talk to Sister about how God makes each of us unique in our own way and we all have special gifts and talents to share with the folks around us.

I have long been a "fan" of the Berenstain Bears, but if I had never been before, I most certainly would be now after reading The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special. This story with the loved Bear family introduces the idea of how God does make each of us unique in our own way and we have have special gifts and talents to share with those around us whether we grow and develop the same or not. This book gives parents, grandparents and teachers the opportunity to have an important conversation with children about loving and accepting all others; extremely well done Berenstain Bears and Zonderkidz!

I'm very happy to say not only did Zonderkidz send me The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special to review, but they are making another one available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be included in the drawing for The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special - which will be on February 24, 2015, please comment below to let me know something special which God has given you to be able to do - for me it has to be writing!
