So, what do I pray about? Certainly the list has a number of things on it and changes depending on the situations they are facing, but the main prayer requests I have for them are as follows . . .
- For God to draw them to Him. (John 6:44 - “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.") There is nothing more important than for the children in our ministries to put their trust in Jesus. for this to happen, God needs to draw them to Him, so I pray for this for them.
- For God to open their eyes. (2 Kings 6:16, 17 - 16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.) I pray for the children to have open eyes so they will see their need for Jesus, for them to have open eyes so they will be able to see what the wise and godly choices are for their lives in this world which is so very dark and so they will be able to see how God is working in their lives. I also pray for them to have open eyes so they will be able to see the truth in this world where so many are deceived by Satan's lies. I pray for them to have open eyes.
- For God to protect them from the evil one. (John 17:15 - My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.) This world is frightening. There are so many things out there to deceive the children in our ministries. I can not protect them from the things in this world, but God can and He will. I pray for God to protect them from the evil one.
