Curriculum Review - Traditional - Bible in Life from David C. Cook!

David C. Cook - transforming lives togetherBible in Life is a Traditional Sunday School curriculum from David C. Cook with, as they put it, "sound, easy-to-teach lessons designed to impact every student entrusted to your care-from the littlest ones to the most mature! And as the name implies Bible-in-Life helps each student put Bible truths to work where it counts - in their everyday life." Allow me to share with you some information about Bible in Life!
Strengths -
  • Biblically Sound
  • Most weeks there are ideas for children to take what they learned out the doors of the church and live it in their everyday lives.
  • The Elementary age levels encourage the children to "Put Feet to Their Faith" and work on service projects.
  • Scope is Unified for Preschool & Early Elementary as it is for Elementary and Upper Elementary, but not across the board.
  • Teacher devotions and Bible backgrounds are excellent tools for the volunteers.
  • Student's take-home papers include ideas for families to do together - IF parents will use these, they are an excellent resource and well worth the cost.
  • "Link to Last Week" - love this reminder for teachers to talk with the children about what they did in the previous week to live what they learned.
  • Options for application activities each week - one option will not require student work-books and the elementary levels sometimes include science projects - love those!
Would like to see -
  • Unified scope for all ages.
  • Quarterly service projects to "Put Feet to Their Faith" for all ages
  • All lessons written to intentionally engage children in the teaching of the Bible lesson with Bible dramas or other creative methods during the lesson, and not just as review.
  • Optional second service.
Bible in Life curriculum is written with the goal of helping children see how the Bible relates to every area of their life. If you are looking for a Traditional curriculum with a focus on connecting God's Word with life, this curriculum is well worth taking a look at to see if it may be a good "fit" for your ministry!

David C. Cook says, "When the Bible is in your life, God's Word transforms your heart and mind. Bible- in-Life curriculum focuses on four basic goals: connect, teach, apply, motivate. No matter where students are in their walk with Jesus, Bible-in-Life communicates the gospel with life-changing clarity and motivates them toward life application.
