Special Give-Away - To the Sea

I was recently invited to review a new book from Graham Blanchard; since it sounded like a book which would be a wonderful addition to church nurseries and for families to have in their home, I said "yes". They sent it to me, and are making another available for me to give away - but first, here is my opinion of, To The Sea.

To The Sea
Author - Callie Grant
Illustrator - Jeremy Tugeau
Publisher - Graham Blanchard
Ages - 2-4

Favorite Features -
  • Sturdy board book will hold up to children for years
  • Lovely illustrations
  • Simple text/story about a day on the beach at the sea
  • Provides opportunities to talk with little ones about the sea and how God created it and gives us "good days in the sun".
Graham Blanchard says; "As children imagine the sights, sounds, feelings, and tastes evoked in To The Sea, they can take part in one boy’s adventurous day there, with its surprises and rewards. In Graham Blanchard’s Learn, Absorb & Praise™ Collection, To The Sea is a Praise book, which wonders at the amazing miracles found in everyday life and praises the God who made them."

My grandsons were at my house when To The Sea arrived, so Josiah (age six) sat right down to read it to his younger brothers. Josiah thought the story did a good job of describing a day at the beach. I like the illustrations and the focus throughout the story of the little things we may not stop to notice which are part of a day at the beach. I like also, how the story makes it very easy to engage children in wiggling their toes and thanking God for His wondrous creation - of the sea and of them as well!

As I mentioned above, Graham Blanchard not only sent a copy of To The Sea for me to review, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over 18 years old and you'd like to be in the drawing for To The Sea, which will be on May 16, 2015,  please comment below to let me know if you have ever been to the sea - I have been to the West Coast, on the beach a few times, but since I live in West Michigan, I've been to Lake Michigan many more times and spent my summers as a child living in a house on a lake!

In addition if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed About the Children's Department by email you will receive one entry for each of these which you have done. Plus, if you "share" this post, you'll receive another entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win To The Sea and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading About the Children's Department and for sharing it with the people you know!

  1. I have lived on the East coast all my life and enjoy the sea often.

  2. I have been to the Florida Keys, the West Coast by L.A. and San Diego and Hawaii. One of my all time favorite places is Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in Glen Arbor, MI which we visit almost each summer. I think it is as beautiful as any of the coasts! I follow on Google Friend, Like on FB on the blog and receive your e-mails. I shared on Facebook.

  3. I live in the Midwest, but I have seen both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. I follow you through Feedly and on Facebook.
