Another Prayer For Children's Ministry . . . Pray for the Laborers!

Yesterday I posted about prayer and our children's ministry; I said, "We need to pray for the children in our church and community and ask God to make their hearts tender and open, so they will choose to believe and be saved!" Today I want to talk about how we also need to pray and ask God to send us the "laborers/volunteers" we need for our ministries!

I firmly believe no one cares more if we have the "laborers" we need in our ministries than God does. God went to great lengths and sent Jesus, so we could be forgiven and learn to know and walk with Him; clearly this is a message He wants others to hear! We need volunteers in our ministries, so we are able to reach children and families. These are simple facts. So, we need to make praying and asking God to send us the laborers we need a regular part of our prayers! Consider the following -   

• Recruit a special team of "pray-ers" and involve this team in praying specifically and regularly for the volunteers you need as well as for the volunteers you have . . . pray and ask God to send volunteers and then hold those volunteers up in prayer.
• Commit to launch your ministry each Fall with time spent in prayer.
• Schedule regular times of prayer to ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers and to hold your volunteers up in prayer.
• Find a specific prayer partner for each volunteer so they are individually supported in prayer all year!

Matthew 9:36-38 - "36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” 

Dear God, I thank You for having compassion on us when You see how we are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. The harvest is plentiful - there are so many children and families in our church and community, and the workers are few. Please send out workers into Your harvest field! Thank You, Amen!
