Legacy Coalition - Grandparenting that Matters - What Might it Look Like???

Yesterday I talked about how a Grandparenting Ministry can benefit the children in your church, and your Children's Ministry. So, today I want to talk about what a Grandparenting Ministry might look like in your church. Consider the following . . .

A Grandparenting Ministry could . . .
  • Engage grandparents in praying intentionally for their grandchildren. They could pray together, share prayer requests and be equipped and encouraged to help their grandchildren learn to be people who pray.
  • Provide small groups and Sunday school classes where grandparents; especially new and expecting grandparents - learn what it means to pass on a heritage of faith to their grandchildren.
  • Provide resources for grandparents to use to both learn how to pass on a heritage of faith, and use to do exactly this.
  • Provide opportunities for grandparents and grandchildren to do things together - at holidays, in the summer . . . anytime!
  • Encourage grandparents to attend conferences to learn more about how to engage their grandchildren and pass on a heritage of faith.
These are just a few ideas - there are more - of ways your church could engage, equip and encourage grandparents to pass on a heritage of faith to their grandchildren. When you do this, you are providing a Grandparenting Ministry!

What might you do to engage, equip and encourage the grandparents at your church?
