Legacy Grandparenting Summit - Michelle Anthony

If Chuck Swindoll, his family and Larry Fowler were the only speakers at the Legacy Coalition, it would have been well worth the time to go and listen to them. However; they were not the only speakers! Over the next few days, I'm very happy to share with you more of what the general session speakers had to say to the nearly 800 grandparents who participated in the first-ever Legacy Grandparenting Summit. Today let's take a look at what Michelle Anthony had to say about encouraging and equipping spiritual grandparents.

Michelle is well-known in the area of Children's Ministry and while she is not yet a grandma, she had wisdom to share about being intentional grandparents and the difference it makes when we are. She encouraged us with the truth of how grandparents truly can make a significant difference in the lives of their grandchildren, because they have the perspective and wisdom of time. We looked at Ephesians 5:15 and were challenged by how it calls upon us to be very careful about how we live, because the days are evil; we need to redeem the time we are given!

She shared with us the difference between, "kronos", which means "more time" and "kairos", which means "ripe moment". Michelle shared from Psalms 71:17, 18 and explained how "time" is talking about "perspective".

Michelle went on to talk about how grandparents can create intentional implementation as they engage in inter-generational activities as they pass on a heritage of faith to their grandchildren. We were challenged to understand this may require sacrifice on our parts, but the end result of passing faith to our grandchildren makes any sacrifice well worth it!

As we listened to Michelle speak we grandparents were both encouraged and challenged to go out and focus upon being intentional Christian grandparents, because grandparenting matters!
