Free Advent Story

halas-spark-of-hope-cover-shotIf you are looking for something to use with the families in your church to help them count down to Christmas, and most importantly, understand better what it is we are celebrating, take a look at this book which you could download for free! In "Hala's Spark of Hope" you and your grandchildren will be able to join Hala, the little jackhare, on her journey to find the High Chief, in this fun and thoughtful re-imagining of the Christmas Story. The 25 short chapters are perfect for Advent readings (starting Dec. 1), or you could have them begin today or tomorrow and just read a couple extra chapters to "catch up". You may download the book and discussion guide for FREE at www.itscaptainsun.com/Hala

This story was written by Bryce Morgan and is being made available by him. He says; "WHAT IF THE CHRISTMAS STORY TOOK PLACE IN ANOTHER WORLD? Under the reign of the Coyote Kings the Desert Kingdom has suffered for many years. A young ‘jackhare’ named Hala knows this all too well. Her father is missing, her mother is sick, and she and her family are about to lose their nest. But when word arrives that an ancient prediction is coming true, Hala’s heart is ignited by a spark of hope, and she sets out alone to get help from the long-awaited High Chief. Will her journey be successful, even though dangers, distortions, and despair are lurking around every bend? Will she find this new ruler in time? Hala’s Spark of Hope is a fun, thrilling, and thoughtful story for all ages. The twenty-five short chapters are perfect for daily or weekly readings just before Christmas, or for a simple read any time of the year (download the “Book to Bible” DISCUSSION GUIDE here - just print and fold on the dotted line!). It will not only challenge you to think about Christmas in a new light, but also to consider your own journey. In fact, it just might ignite a spark of hope in your heart!"

I think the story will capture the attention of children; I like the "cliff hanger" endings and as the story progresses, children are sure to look forward to hearing the next chapter before bed or at supper each evening as you get closer to Christmas. However; more than just reading a fun story, I love how Bryce provides the discussion guide with scripture and questions designed to help children really think through what is happening in the story, how they would feel if they were in the same situation and how it all connects with God and His great love for them! They will be encouraged to have hope, to believe God and His Word even when others do not, to pray, to find rest in God and so much more!
This is a wonderful early Christmas gift for the families in your ministry - pass along the download info and encourage parents and grandparents to download a copy of the book and discussion guide for themselves to then join forces to read it each evening to their children and  grandchildren from now until Christmas! You'll be so glad you did . . . and so will they!
