VBS 2018 - faith Lab - Science VBS from Kidmin Science

Today I'm very happy to share with you faith Lab from Science VBS. This VBS resource does not just have a science station or a science activity, but the entire VBS connects science with God's Word.

faith Lab engages children with lots of science projects, so you are able to be sure children are going to pay attention and learn from the things they participate in each morning. Take a look and consider if faith Lab is a good "fit" for your Children's Ministry!

faith Lab
  1. F = Faith - We put our trust in many things, but putting our faith and trust in God is the most important decision we can make - Learning about the gift of salvation through Jesus - 2 Corinthians 5:21
  2. A = Almighty - God uses His almighty power in many ways, but most importantly, God used His almighty power to forgive us from our sin - Exploring the almighty power of God that is all around us - Hebrews 1:1
  3. I = Influence - It’s easy for us to talk about our favorite things with others, but nothing is more important than sharing about Jesus with the world - Influencing the people around us with the love of Jesus - Matthew 5:14-16
  4. T = Temptation - We all face temptation and fleeing it is hard! But God gives us what we need to face our temptations - Training kids in how to face and fight temptation - 1 Corinthians 10:13
  5. H = Heaven - Heaven is for all people that have come to have a relationship with Jesus, and we should look forward to it! - Celebrating the good news of the gospel that offers us eternal life! - 1 Corinthians 2:9
Setting – Science lab.
Message/Theme – faith Lab uses science and activity to help children learn what it means to put their faith in Jesus.
Focus – Evangelism, Content and Application
Price - $329.99 (entirely reproducible, including music - so keep this in mind when you look at this price)

Strengths –
  • LOVE the way this curriculum involves children in science projects throughout the morning each day of this VBS - the science projects will definitely get the children's attention!
  • I LOVE the way so much intentional learning is able to take place in the small group Science Devotions stations - children will participate in two devotions each day and will be opening their Bibles, reading Scripture, talking about what it says and doing science projects to help them understand and remember what they are learning - EXCELLENT!
  • faith Lab has a strong evangelistic emphasis and solid Bible teaching
  • Flexible - you are provided with the written text and info you need to teach/present each science project in person, or you may use the video of Josh presenting each project and teaching the day's point. Do it yourself, use the videos or mix the two for what fits best in your ministry.
  • Lots of information about how to prepare for each science project, where to find supplies and how to lead children through each project
  • Reproducible Music - copy and give to volunteers, families, children - everyone!
  • Excellent resources to help churches turn their building and grounds into a science lab
  • Curriculum available as a download and you are welcome to print as many of the resources as you need for use in your ministry.
  • New this year - you may order a dvd of all the science project videos and music videos for $75 in place of downloading them - nice option if, like me, you have a slow internet connection.
  • New this year, I'm extremely happy to see a mission project with LifeWater - but I'm not sure where churches find the info on this project. It looks like it will be a great project for churches to engage children in giving to others.
Would like to see –
  • Service projects for children to work on which help people in their community - food drive, coat drive, etc.
  • Along with strong evangelistic emphasis, I'd like to see an emphasis on growth for children who have already trusted Jesus. There is some of this in faith Lab, but I'd really like to see a clear emphasis each day for children who already believe.
  • Daily "Live-it" activities and time for children to share how they lived what they learned.
  • Complete director's book with information about safety, special needs, etc.
  • It is a little confusing to find the specific info small group leaders need to use with their small groups. I'd like to see added to the book for small group leaders resources which provide guided conversation, questions, etc for them to use with their group.
Science VBS says, "Science VBS faith Lab is a fun and creative method for using Science-Inspired, Christ-Focused experiments, activities and experiences to tell the story of salvation through Jesus Christ in a memorable and engaging way. Science VBS makes a solemn commitment we will share the good news of Jesus every single day of this program. faith Labs combines cool science and amazing projects with sharing the story of Christ."

Once again this year, I found the Science VBS' resource - faith Lab - to be an excellent resource; I really LOVE all the science experiments which children are able to not just watch, but actually have a part in performing themselves! If you do not choose faith Lab for your VBS, consider where you might use it in your ministry - since it is available year around, you will have no trouble finding it after the summer is over. As I said last year, there are so many activities and science projects in each lesson, it would be easy to stretch the five lessons into ten and use it over your Summer on Sunday mornings.
