Reach the Hearts of Their Grandchildren

I originally posted this a couple weeks ago, but the grandparents in your ministry still have time to go to this - it is next week - so I decided to share it again. Please pass the word to the grandparents you know.

One of the things we want to do on the Grandmas with Heart blog is to let you know about resources and opportunities for the grandparents of the children in your ministry which will equip and encourage them to hand down the faith to their grandchildren. So, today I am very happy to let you know about two opportunities for them to hear from John Stonestreet (president - The Colson Center) and Larry Fowler (president - Legacy Coalition). John and Larry will be discussing "Four Big Cultural Shifts and How to Help the Next Generation Navigate Them" and "The Amazing Influence of a Grandparent", respectively, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM EDT in Petoskey, Michigan and Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM EDT, in Traverse City, Michigan.

Please share with the grandparents in your ministry how they may register today at https:christiangrandparentingtc2018.eventbrite.com! or contact Jeff Rogers at 616-450-5117 or jrogers@colsoncenter.org to hear how they are able to grandparent on purpose and make a real and lasting difference in the lives of theirr grandchildren. At these events they will hear about -
  • The Amazing Influence of a Grandparent from Larry Fowler, President, Legacy Coalition. He will share how having a strategy is a critical element in being an intentional grandparent. In this session, they’ll learn why targeting the heart is so important and then--from the ministry of Jesus--how to become more effective in impacting their grandchildren’s hearts.
  • Four Big Cultural Shifts and How to Help the Next Generation Navigate Them from John Stonestreet the President of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. If we want the next generation to trust Christ no matter the situation, it matters how they see us responding to our rapidly changing culture. In this session they will gain understanding of the world in which their grandkids live, how they are able to communicate with them, and together with them build a legacy of hope.
  • Q & A with Larry and John - they will answer questions giving helpful and practical insight on issues facing grandparents today.
  • Registration: $25 per couple; $15 per individual.
John Stonestreet’s passion is to illuminate a Biblical worldview for today’s culture. He’s a speaker, writer, cultural commentator, and collaborator of worldview initiatives. John holds a master of arts in Christian thought from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (IL) where he graduated with honors. John and his wife Sarah were married in 2002. They live with their three daughters and one son in Colorado Springs, CO.

Larry Fowler is the founder of the Legacy Coalition. Under his leadership, the Legacy Coalition is being used all across America to inspire grandparents to become more intentional, and their churches to launch grandparenting ministries. His 40 years plus of ministry include experience as youth pastor, part of the Awana staff as missionary, training staff, international director, and Executive Director of Training. He has extensive international experience, training children’s workers in 47 countries. Larry has authored books on children’s and family ministry and is a regular main stage speaker and workshop presenter at conferences.

Both evenings will be full of opportunity to learn about handing down the faith to your grandchildren and the opportunity to connect with other grandparents as well. Just look at what grandparents who attended last year have to say about it . . .
  • I started a prayer journal and have been praying for my grandkids daily.” —Steve F.
  • I have had a chance to share my personal testimony with my grandkids.” —Nancy J
  • I felt convicted during the conference. My wife and I moved across six states to live near our grandchildren and are loving it.” —Steve V
If any of the grandparents in your ministry are able to make one of these evenings, definitely encourage them to do so; they will leave challenged, encouraged and equipped to hand down the faith to their grandchildren.
