Let's Plan a Volunteer Recruitment Month! - "Tell Me Again" Theme!

I've been focusing on developing a theme for a month of recruiting for Fall ministries. Now is the time to determine your theme, develop your plan to intentionally engage the people in your church throughout the month of May and present to them the opportunity of serving in your Children's Ministry!

  • Video hints – verse one show your kids in Sunday School, on the chorus show the kids again and verse two show adults in general.
  • Recruiting Plan – begin two weeks before the actual start of your recruiting month with the following “teasers” -  Week one – “Tell me again the old, old stories”.  Week two – “Tell me again of the faithful who walked.” Week three/week one of the recruiting month – “I don’t want to forget, so please tell me again.”
  • Recruiting Month –  Week one – Show the video and  make badges for kids to wear saying, “please tell me again".
  • Week two – Show a short video where you interview kids and ask them about their favorite Bible stories and what they like about Sunday School, ask the Senior Pastor to speak briefly as to the value and importance of “telling the old, old story” and be sure kids continue to wear their badges.
  • Week three –  Arrange for two volunteers to share their testimony as to why they enjoy serving and be sure kids continue to wear their badges.
  • Week four – Make posters showing Daniel; Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego; Noah and the rainbow; Baalam and the donkey; Shepherds, wise men, star and baby Jesus; Jesus on a cross; David and Goliath; Moses and the Red Sea and then have children carry their signs to the front of the church while the music plays.  Have kids leave their signs at the end of the song and pick up flowers.  Ask your volunteers to stand and have the kids hand out flowers as they tell the volunteers, “thank you for telling me the old, old stories”. Be sure kids continue to wear their badges.
Each week include flyers in the bulletin and up-date your sign as to how many volunteer positions remain to be filled. Be sure to follow up with everyone who expresses an interest in serving on your Children's Ministry Team!
