Let's Plan a Volunteer Recruitment Month! - "Lifesong" Theme

I've been sharing recruiting theme ideas with you which you could use to focus your church for an entire month on the opportunities which are available to serve in the Children's Ministry.  As I've said, I really like using a theme for a month as it gives you a consistent message and one which is more likely to get the attention of the people in your church. Today consider this song from Casting Crowns - "Lifesong"!

• Video hints – during the first verse show children's ministries, during the chorus show volunteers, during the second verse show general shots of people from your church and through the bridge show children's ministries once again.
• Recruiting Plan – Begin three weeks before the actual start of your recruiting month with the following “teasers” –   Week One – “May the words I say And the things I do . . .”. Week Two – “Lord I give my life A living sacrifice . . .” Week three - "To reach a world in need To be Your hands and feet . . ." Week four/Week one of the recruiting month – “Let my lifesong sing to You!”
•  Recruiting Month – Week one – show the video and be ready with the following attention getters – Make “Let my lifesong sing!” badges and have all staff, CE board members and volunteers wear their badge each week of the month, hand out “Let my lifesong sing!” badges to specific people who you would like to be involved in your ministry and ask them to pray about being involved.
• Week two – invite two or three volunteers to share about someone who shared Jesus with them when they were a child and how it impacted their lives - be sure everyone wears their “Let my lifesong sing!” badge and be ready to hand some out to new volunteers.
• Week three – Ask two or three children to share how a volunteer has, "let their lifesong sing" and how it changed their lives. Ask your Senior Pastor to speak to the value of volunteering and to “letting their lifesong sing” in the life of a child,  be sure everyone wears their “Let my lifesong sing!” badge and be ready to hand some out to new volunteers.
• Week four – make paper music notes, each with a photo of a volunteer and/or child in the middle, and hang these on the doors of your church - throughout the building, particularly on the doors to the auditorium with the words - “Let your lifesong sing in the life of a child!”.

Each week during your month, include a flyer in the bulletin for people to fill out and place in the offering to indicate their interest in learning more about volunteering.  Also post a sign with how many openings are still available to serve – update both weekly!
