Teaching children has become a much more visible "job" for parents - and some grandparents - with the closing of schools due to Covid-19. While teaching children their ABC's is now something which is happening in their homes, teaching them to know the Lord is something which needs to be part of their home life at all times - with their parents and grandparents as their teachers. This is God's best plan for the handing down of the faith from one generation to the next - for grandparents and parents to teach the children they love about the One who loves them the most and how they are able to know, walk and talk with Him. (Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children is an excellent resource to help them teach children ages four - fourteen to talk with God.)So, encourage and equip grandparents and parents to commit to being the teachers who teach the children they love about Jesus. If this is something they have not done yet, now is the time to begin. If this is something they are committed to do already, encourage them to continue to teach. What they do matters. What they do makes a difference.
God has promised His Word will accomplish what He has sent it to do - use it. Help grandparents and parents teach it. Tell it. Pray it, and teach the children they love to do the same. After all, they are their teachers - the ones God chose for them to have.
