I am often asked by grandmas (and grandpas, too) how they are able to do more to hand down confident faith than pray and invite their grandchildren to go to church with them, and my answer is always to watch for unexpected opportunities for conversations which connect life with God, be sure we live what we say, and plan special opportunities to have those important conversations. It is typically the third of these three things with which they find the most challenging, so today I'm going to walk you though a new curriculum written to help you plan these special opportunities.
While the "Life on the 'Goldilocks Planet'" series are books which children of all ages will enjoy reading through on their own (and make great Christmas gifts), they have been written to be a resource, a curriculum, for grandparents and parents to help them hand down confident faith. When you use this series, you will be able to do the following - choose an animal and read through all the animal fun facts with your grandchildren while looking at the full-color photos. As you read through the info, talk about what you are learning and think together through the questions at the end of the fun facts. Then participate in the activity together (art project, or recipe, or game, or science project). End your time together reading what actual scientists say about the world around us (many are Nobel Science Prize winners) and spend time thanking God for His design and creation. Interesting, engaging, fun, and easy to use, this curriculum will help you hand down confident faith to the ones you love!
If we want the children we love to have a confident faith, we need to teach them the "whys" - why they are able to believe God is real and trust Him with confidence. These books will help you with this, our most important "job" as grandparents and parents.
