- Red-Lipped Batfish use their fins to “walk” along the bottom of the ocean.
- Rufous Hummingbirds are able to survive in the cold of Alaska by becoming “torpid” – they reduce their body temperature and metabolic rate at night when it is cold until it warms up in the day.
- You are able to hear Asiatic Lions roar from five miles away.
- Giant Purple Squirrels are the only purple squirrels in the world – they are also the only purple mammal in the world.
- Komodo Dragons eat large chunks of meat which could make them choke, but they have a special tube under their tongue which allows them to breathe while they swallow.
- Dumbo Octopuses are able to camouflage themselves to match their surroundings as they have special chromatophore cells in their skin which allow them to change color, size, texture, and even make themselves an “invisible” color so they blend in with the ocean floor.
- Sumatran Rhinos are related to extinct woolly rhinos.
- Kakapos are a large parrot which is not able to fly.
