14 Ways to "Blow" Your Children's Ministry - Encourage Each Other to Skip the Hard Things

Okay, you may not out-and-out "encourage" each other to "skip" the hard things, but you also may not encourage each other to do the hard things either. If you do either of these  two things, you will be "blowing" your Children's Ministry. So, what does it look like for you to "encourage" each other to "skip" the hard things? Consider the following . . .

  • If you do not follow up each and every week with visitors, children who were absent, children who were ill, and children who had a birthday, you are "blowing" your Children's Ministry.
  • If you do not follow up with volunteers whenever they are absent - were they ill? Was a member of their family ill? Do they need anything? Are they okay? - if you do not do this, you are "blowing" your Children's Ministry.
  • If you do not call out gossip and stop gossip EVERY SINGLE TIME it shows its ugly head in your ministry - no matter who is gossiping, you are "blowing" your  Children's Ministry.
  • If you do not train your volunteers regularly, you are "blowing" your Children's Ministry.
  • If you do not take time to show your appreciation for your volunteers regularly in small and big ways, you are "blowing" your Children's Ministry.
  • If you do not take the time to get to know the children, parents, and grandparents, you are "blowing" your  Children's Ministry.
These are just a few ways you might "skip" the hard things, and if you are doing any of these things, you are "blowing" your Children's Ministry.

What can you do for a "do-over" if you have been skipping the hard things? This one is pretty easy . . . just start doing the hard things. Yes, they will take time. Yes, depending on the size of your church you may need to recruit someone who specifically focuses on these "hard" things, but if you do not make sure you are doing the hard things, then you are blowing your Children's Ministry.

And the benefit for doing the "hard" things? You will find your Children's Ministry is much stronger and you will be building relationships as you serve the children, families and volunteers in your Children's Ministry.

So, what "hard" things are easier for you to "skip"?
